อูฐ

     การเดินทางของมนุษย์ที่ต้องเดินทางจากแห่งหนึ่งไปสู่อีกแห่งหนึ่งต้องอาศัยสรีระร่างกายขับเคลื่อนไปสู่จุดหมาย การเดินทางที่ไม่ไกลหรือลำบากมากจะใช้การเดินทางโดยทางเท้า ถ้สำหรับระยะทางไกลก็จะอาศัยพาหนะหรือยานพาหนะเป็นตัวช่วยในการเดินทางในการเดินทางสู่จุดหมายนั้นๆ

      การเดินทางในท้องถิ่นธุรกันดารอย่างท้องทะเลทรายในตอนกลางวันที่ต้องฝ่าผืนทะเลทรายที่ร้อนระอุและในตอนกลางคืนที่มีอากาศหนาวเย็นที่ต้องอาศัยไออุ่น พาหนะของคนทั่วไปคงหนีไม่พ้นสัตว์ประจำท้องถิ่นที่ขึ้นชื่อลือชาในการฝ่าท้องทะเลทราย

     
    
     อูฐ (ภาษาอังกฤษ : Camel ,อาหรับ جمليات‎, ญะมัล) ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์ Scientific name : Camelidae เป็นสัตว์ที่ขึ้นชื่อลือชาอย่างหนึ่งที่คนนำเลี้ยงเป็นพาหนะขนสัมภาระในการเดินทางระยะไกลฝ่าผืนท้องทะเลทรายหรือแม้กระทั่งเอาไว้สำหรับการค้าขายในทางธุรกิจ โดยการนำมาทำเป็นอาหารเพื่อใข้ในการบริโภคของนุษย์

        อูฐ คนไทยทุกคนคงรู้จักกันดีแม้บางครั้งคนไทยคำเปรียบเทียบคนที่มีว่าความอดทนเหมือนอุฐ เกือบทุกคนจะเข้าใจว่าเป็นพาหนะที่ใช้เฉพาะในทะเลทรายแถบตะวันออกกลาง ซึ่งแท้ที่จริงการเลีัยงอูฐเพื่อใช้เป็นพาหนะสำหรับเดินทางไม่ใช่เฉพาะในบริเวณแห้งแล้งอย่างในแถบสะวันนา แถบซาฮารา(ทะเลทราย)แต่ยังมีบริเวณที่นอกถิ่นเหล่านี้มีการเลี้ยงอูฐด้วยเช่นเดียวกัน

     ประเทศซูดานที่ตั้งอยู่ในภูมิถาคแอฟริกาตะวันออกขึ้นชื่อเป็นประเทศที่มีอูฐมากที่สุดประเทศหนึ่ง สัญลักษ์ทางวัฒนธรรม รูปวาด หลายอย่างมีรูปของอูฐเป็นส่วนประกอบ รวมทั้งในมหาลัยอย่าง คณะธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม มหาลัย Kodafan จะมีงานศึกษาค้นคว้าเกี่ยวกับเรื่องอูฐ ในหน่วยงานของรัฐทำการวิจัยศึกษาเกี่ยวกับอูฐ อูฐซึ่งที่นี่ลักษณะเด่จะเป็นอูฐหนอก(ตะโหนก)เดียว อูฐจะถือเป็นสัตว์เลี้ยงอย่างหนี่งเลี้ยงไว้ใช้งานบรรทุกสัมภาระในการเดินทางนอกเหนือจากสัตว์ชนิดอื่นอย่างจำพวก วัว ล่อ ม้า เป็นต้น

     สำหรับอูฐจะเป็นพาหนะอย่างหนึ่งในชีวิตประจำวัน รวมทั้งใช้ในการเดินทางไกล้หรือไกล การย้ายถิ่นฐานจากแหล่งกำเนิดจากแห่งบริเวณหนี่งไปสู่อีกบริเวณหนึ่งไม่ว่าจะฝ่าท้องทะเลทรายหรือบริเวณทุ่งหญ้าอันกว้างไกลอูฐจะเป็นตัวพานำไปสู่จุดหมาย รวมทั้งอูฐเป็นสัตว์เลี้ยงที่มีกันเกือบทั่วไปงานประเพณีบางอย่างจะมีการนำอูฐมาประกวดและแข่งขันทางการกีฬา

     อูฐเป็นสัตว์เลี้ยงที่น่าสัมผัสอย่างหนึ่งเอาไว้รอโอกาสอันไกล้คงมีใครสักคนได้นั่งบนหลังอูฐ คงต้องรอสักวัน
